23.08.2025- To welcome the new batch of first year students 2025, a fresher’s event was organized on 23rd August 2025 at Don Bosco College, Golaghat.  The event was organized by the senior students of the college under the guidance of Miss MrigakhiGoswami, Assistant Professor, H.O.D, of theDepartment of Political Science. The venue of the event was the College auditorium.The freshers were welcomed to the auditorium witha cultural performance.

The event began at 9.45 A.M.  The host of the event was Sanngam Wangjen, student of B.A 5th semester, and Limka Bongrungpi, of B.A 3rd semester, Department of Political Science. Dr. Sanjoy Kumar Hazarika, Senior Correspondent, The Assam Tribune, Golaghat District was the Chief Guest for the event. Firstly there was the reciting of a prayer by Rev. Fr. KamilHoro, Rector, Don Bosco College, Golaghat. Then there was the lightening of the lamp by Fr. Rector, Principal, and Chief Guest, two freshers, one senior teacher and student forum President of the college. SavioSurin, student of B.A 5th semester, Department of Political Science and the President of student forum, has delivered the welcome speech and followed by welcome song by 5th semester students. Fr.Dr.A. Amaladoss, Principal and Director of Research, of the institution also presented a very illuminating and inspiring speech addressing the freshers and expressing the students what they can accomplish through pursuing graduation, and also encouraging them in their academic journey.  The Chief Guest of the event wasfelicitated with a Traditional Gamoucha. He presented his lecture on how to build careerand also encouraging everyone to inculcate the habit of reading books as books teach news things and provide new learning. On this occasion two new fresher faculties were also felicitated. The event was also graced by the presence of eminent personalities from Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission from education department, Dr.  Prem Kumar, Fr. Arockia  Raj and Ma’am Arul Mathi. Fr. Arockia Raj delivered a speech highlighting the importance of our Constitution, and how to protect our Constitution.

The event further proceeded with the display of several captivating performances by the students. Solo song, and group dances were performed by the students. The first semester students were also invited to the stage to give their introduction. A fresher’s competition comprising of three rounds; ramp walk, talent round, question and answer round was also organized during the programme. Paul Pamei from the Department of Political Science and PemanWangsu from the Department of Sociology were selected as Mr. Fresher and Miss Freshers respectively. The vote of thanks was givenby Monica Dahanga, student of B.Com 5th semester which was followed by a photo session at 2.00 p.mand  all were also invited to gather for a common meal.

After the freshers’ day celebration, a friendly volley ball match was organized among freshers and senior students of the college. The first match was played between Freshers’Vs Senior boys and after three sets Freshers’ were declared as Champions while in the second match Senior Girls were declared as champions against girl freshers’.
