Report on the Celebration of International Youth Day (IYD) and National Librarians’ Day (NLD)

Venue: Don Bosco College, Golaghat

The Department of Education and the College Library jointly organized a program to celebrate International Youth Day and National Librarians’ Day on 12th August 2025 at Don Bosco College, Golaghat.The program commenced with the assembly of all students, faculty members, and guests in the college assembly. The Principal of Don Bosco College Dr. Fr. A. Amaladoss warmly welcomed the gathering, highlighting the significance of International Youth Day in empowering young minds and National Librarians’ Day in recognizing the invaluable contribution of librarians.

The invited speaker, Mr. Debashish Bhuyan, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Debraj Roy College Golaghat delivered an insightful address on the theme “Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond”. with the link of International Youth Day . His speech emphasized the importance of active youth participation in building a better society and also paid tribute to the contributions of librarians in fostering knowledge and education.

To encourage and appreciate effective library usage among students, the “Best Library Practice Award” was presented to the most deserving recipient. This recognition aimed to motivate students to develop reading habits and utilize library resources effectively. Total six students received the award from various departments - Martha Engtipi, 5th semester, student of the Department of Education, 2nd best Nittu Roy, Department of English, 3rd best Nowdon Jamikham and Binita

Tigga from the Department of Commerce.

4th Urmila Tigga, department of sociology

and 5th - Tarifur Rahman, department of political science.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by the Librarian Ms. Debashi Phukon who expressed gratitude to the speaker, organizers, faculty, students, and all participants for their support and active involvement in making the event a success.

The celebration not only highlighted the vitality of youth in social development but also recognized the role of libraries and librarians in nurturing a culture of reading and learning.
