A vibrant spirit of faith, leadership, and service filled St. Theresa Parish, Golaghat, as nearly 400 young people from 34 villages participated in a two-day Youth Faith Enrichment Programme, held from July 19 to 20. Anchored in the powerful theme "Daring to Dream, Building the Future: Called to Holiness and Service," the event inspired youth to deepen their faith and step into roles of responsibility within their communities.
Organized across six parish circles, the programme was a landmark event aimed at nurturing spiritual growth and personal development among the region's youth. The weekend opened with an address by Fr. Kamil Horo SDB, Parish Priest, followed by an enriching reflection on holiness and service by Dn. Anim SDB from Meghalaya.
Faith formation sessions throughout Saturday explored personal spirituality and Christian living. Salesian brothers and religious sisters led engaging discussions that encouraged young participants to integrate faith into everyday life. The evening featured a lively village-level Bible quiz, with the Rangajan circle youth emerging champions, followed by a fashion show, youth leader elections, and a meditative prayer service.
Sunday began with joyful praise and worship, uniting all participants in song and prayer. Lt. Col. Lun Songput, from the 74 Assam Girls NCC Unit, addressed the group on the topics of personality development and leadership. At the same time, Fr. Theotimus SDB, Province Youth Coordinator from Nagaland, challenged youth to dream boldly with God as their guide.
Workshops on leadership, character formation, and community service followed, along with small-group faith-sharing sessions, which fostered deep connections and support among participants. The morning Eucharistic celebration was followed by an oath-taking ceremony led by Fr. Dr. A. Amaladoss SDB, Youth Director and Principal, where newly elected youth leaders pledged their commitment to serve with integrity.
Cultural expressions took center stage through thematic skits and dance performances, reinforcing the event's core values. The valedictory session saw over 60 medals and certificates awarded for excellence in competitions ranging from quizzes to cultural events.
The success of the programme, made possible by the tireless efforts of Salesian educators, religious sisters, and volunteers, laid a strong foundation for future youth initiatives focused on faith, leadership, and service in the parish community.
