Industrial Visit to Halmira Tea Factory

10/09/2024: Tea, the most ancient beverage mankind has been enjoying. Tea industry in Assam plays a useful part in the national economy. To understand the demand for tea for its aroma and quality and how the process unfolds in manufacturing, The department of Commerce of Don Bosco College golaghat visited Halmira Tea Factory. With a very enthusiastic team of Mr. Mukul Sarmah, Mr. Abhinav Todi and Mr. Shiv Kumar Sharma accompanied by 51 students of B.A & B.COM 3rd Semester along with B.com 5th Semester students. The general Manager Mr. Girdhari Sharma permitted to enter the factory premises. And it was indeed a informative experience. Mr. P.K Pathak an employee accustomed the students regarding the process of tea manufacturing. They were given first hand information of the entire tea processing. They were given a tour of the factory and also got engaged with a very informative talk about different stages of tea processing like cutting, cleaning,shaping, fermentating etc everything was explained to them in a detailed manner. He talked about  the process of how tea leaves are made into dry CTC tea packaging. He narrated the complete manufacturing process to the students which was accompanied by the faculties. The tea factory is engaged in production process for around 100 years. The students were happy to learn about the process of tea manufacturing. And then students were engaged in questionnaire session .They wanted to deepened the knowledge regarding tea factories for which they had queries related to work environment, incentives, fringe benefits along with necessary qualification to work in the factory. After resolving students queries he also discussed about the problems faced by the factory in the whole process of tea manufacturing. In a nutshell, it was a great experience for the students as well as for the faculties. They were amused to know the process of tea manufacturing and looks forward for such experience again .\
