REPORT OF THE ICSSR NATIONAL SEMINAR - CONVENOR
GOLAGHAT DON BOSCO COLLEGE – ICSSR -Funded National Seminar on “Indian Knowledge System and Artificial Intelligence: Future of Spiritualism through the Lens of Culture, Ethics and Education under Viksit Bharat”
ICSSR-Funded National Seminar Golaghat, February 7, 2026 – In a vibrant fusion of ancient wisdom and cutting-edge technology, the Department of Sociology and Education at Don Bosco College Golaghat (DBCG), in association with IQAC & Research Cell, DBCG, and in collaboration with the Department of Sociology at Furkating College (Autonomous), organized an ICSSR-sponsored national seminar titled "Indian Knowledge System and Artificial Intelligence: Future of Spiritualism through the Lens of Culture, Ethics and Education – under Viksit Bharat." Held on February 5-6 at DBCG, the event drew scholars, experts, and students to deliberate on how AI can harmonize with India's rich cultural heritage for ethical and spiritual progress.
The two-day hybrid seminar featured registration, flag hoisting, inaugural ceremony, keynote addresses, technical sessions, paper presentations, and cultural performances, underscoring the role of Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) in navigating AI's ethical challenges amid India's vision for a developed nation by 2047.
The proceedings kicked off at 8:00 AM on February 5 with registration, followed by a majestic inaugural session from 9:40-11:30 AM. Chief Guest Prof. Kali Nath Jha from Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, received a guard of honour, flag hoisting, and a soulful prayer song by students. Rev. Fr. Kamil Horo, SDB, Rector of DBCG, invoked divine blessings, while Co-Convenors Arpita Dowarah and Daisy Gogoi introduced the theme.
Dr. Fr. A. Amaladoss, SDB, Convenor and Principal of DBCG, delivered the welcome address, emphasizing AI's potential to preserve spiritual values. Felicitation ceremonies honored dignitaries, followed by a mesmerizing Modern dance by Furkating College students. The session concluded with a group song and vote of thanks by Dr. Sr. Sheela Paul, Vice Principal, DBCG and group photo session.
Post a short break, Technical Session 1 (11:45 AM-1:15 PM) on "Cultural Sensitivity through AI" (focusing on language preservation, ethical storytelling, and folklore) was chaired by Dr. Juri Gogoi Konwar of Tezpur University, with moderation by Dr. Munirul Hussain of Furkating College.
Technical Session 2 (1:15-2:00 PM) spotlighted "Environmental Ethics in IKS for Sustainable Development," featuring Padma Shri awardee Mr. Jadav Payeng, the famed "Forest Man of India.” He spoke about the importance of environment and the role of Indian knowledge system in preserving environmental ethics.
After lunch, Technical Session 3 (2:30-4:00 PM) delved into "Ethical Conduct of AI in Religion and Spiritualism," led by Dr. Partha Protim Borah of BSSRV, Golaghat and moderated by Asst. Prof. GauravDey, Department of Commerce.
The day wrapped with a 4:30-6:30 PM cultural showcase of India's diversity. The Showcase of different cultural dances such as Assamese, Tiwa, Seven sisters of Northeast India, Rajasthan, Bodolandland was represented by Bagarumba, and so on. Manipur state was represented by a group song and Arunachal Pradesh by a solo song and so on. At the end of day one 42 papers presented successfully. The research scholars, invited guests, other guests, paper presenters and participants all were satisfied and happy expressing appreciation to the organizing team. From News 18 TV channels and media persons came to the venue and took video coverage of the event and also took two interview one with the Mr. Jadev Payeng, the forest man of India and the second interview with Rev. Dr. A. Amaladoss, SDB, Convenor and Principal, Don Bosco College, Golaghat. At end of the day one the convenor recapitulated the entire happenings of the day one and thanked everyone for their collaboration.
