Development Outreach Programme organized by the Department of Political Science,
Don Bosco College, at Sacred Heart High School Golaghat

01.11.2022- On 1st November 2022, the Department of Political Science Don Bosco College, Golaghat organized a Development Outreach Programme on the observance of Post 77th UN Foundation Year at Sacred Heart School, Golaghat. The theme of the programme was ‘Nourishing Peace’. The very purpose of the programme was to make aware the students about UN and its role in nourishing peace. The students of B.A 5th semester took the initiative and participated  in a variety of activities in the programme. The programme was conducted at Sacred Heart High School, Golaghat. It was attended by the students of Class IX. The programme started sharply at 1.00 p.m. The students presented introduction on United Nations-its origin and development, presented UN’S role in maintaining peace, and in the field of promotion and protection of human rights. Moreover, songs and dances of peace and unity were also performed by the students to mark the day.  The vote of thanks was delivered by Sir. Arpan Mandal, Assistant Professor, of the Department. The programme ended by 2.15 p.m.

Assam Finance Minister Smt Ajanta Neog inaugurates Academic Arts Building of Don Bosco College, Golaghat.

12 Nov.,2022 ,DON BOSCO COLLEGE, GOLAGHAT: Finance, Women and Child Development Minister, Smt. Ajanta Neog inaugurated the 1st and 2nd floor of Academic Arts Building, Computer Lab and Solar Panel Power Plant on 12 November 2022. The program was organized by the Don Bosco College management and Student’s Forum under the leadership of Rev. Fr. A. Amaladoss, SDB, Vice Principal of Don Bosco College, Golaghat.  Chairperson of Golaghat Municipality, Mrs. Dulumoni Borbora attended the inauguration ceremony among many well-wishers, fathers, sisters, friends and special invitees. Representatives of two school students also witnessed the historical event. The event started at 10.30 am with the cutting of ribbon by Smt. Ajanta Neog followed by chief guest speech and cultural program.

While addressing the audience Ajanta Neog said, “When I entered into this institution then the environment of love, peace, devotion, and dedication could be seen and experienced. You are very lucky and I am honored to inaugurate the college building which is very pre-planned. This kind of environment is essential for the purpose of education. Education is the foundation of the society which needs to be strong. I congratulate all of you that Don Bosco College Golaghat is an institution which is playing a very vital role for the promotion of our society along with the path of education and upliftment.” 

She congratulated the institution for achieving B+ in the first cycle of NAAC assessment Grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bengaluru. She said that Don Bosco is not only a prestigious brand but also a revolution in itself; the revolution of knowledge initiated by Saint John Bosco for youth empowerment and for providing quality education to economically weaker section. She added that the students of this institution are truly blessed and they should take pride while studying in an International Institution. She wished for the best and said that she would like to help the institution financially for its growth and to fulfill all the criteria that are lagging behind.

Dr. Fr. Policarp Xalxo, Principal of Don Bosco College, Golaghat addressed the audience as well as the dignitaries that attended the inauguration ceremony. He talked about the history of the institution and how the institution has been growing up year after year. The cultural diversity of the college was seen and experienced by all present for the gathering in colourful dresses of students in their Assamese, Karbi, Adivasi, Wancho and other traditional dresses performing their folk dances. Her amiable presence was appreciated by everyone present at the event and it will surely benefit the institution in future.
