International Mother Language Day 2025

Here’s a report on the celebration of International Mother Language Day 2025 at Don Bosco College, Golaghat, Assam.

On February 21, 2025, Don Bosco College, Golaghat, observed International Mother Language Day organised by the department of Education with great enthusiasm and fervor. The celebration was marked by a special program, where the Chief Guest,ShriGajenGogoi, Welfare Officer, Directorate Sainik Welfare Department, Assam shared his feelings and thoughts on the significance of mother languages.

The highlight of the program was when the Chief GuestShriGajenGogoi, Dr. Fr. A. Amaladoss, SDB, Principal, Fr. Alayee, Vice Principal along with students and staff, wrote their thoughts and feelings on a flex board in their own mother tongue. The flex board was a symbolic representation of the importance of preserving and promoting mother languages. The writings on the board reflected the participants’ love and respect for their mother languages and the role they play in shaping their identities and cultures.The event was a testament to the college’s commitment to promoting linguistic and cultural diversity.

The celebration of International Mother Language Day 2025 at Don Bosco College, Golaghat, was a memorable event that highlighted the significance of mother languages in our lives. The program was a success, thanks to the active participation of students, staff, and the chief guest. The college looks forward to continuing its efforts to promote linguistic and cultural diversity in the years to come.Asst. Prof. Daisy Gogoi, Department of Education thanked everyone at the end of the day in her Mother Language. Including some of the NCC cadets who represented from 11 different colleges in and around Golaghat also took part in the event. The total mother languages represented are more than 20 and some of the prominent ones are: Assamese, Tamil, Manipuri, Hindi, Munda, Nagmese, Urang, Bengali, Wancho, Notcte, Karbi and so on.
