Welcome to Don Bosco College, Golaghat. It is an environment that will inspire you to aspire for living a quality life. Don Bosco College Golaghat is part of the worldwide Don Bosco Institutions run and managed by Salesians of Don Bosco – an organization that caters to the needs of young people. In North East India, Salesians of Don Bosco set foot on 12 January 1922. Ever Since then, the Salesians of Don Bosco through their sheer dedication and hard work, are providing Youth Care and Development through Schools, Colleges, University and Village Outreach Programmes.
In 2015, the Don Bosco Society started Degree College at Golaghat, Assam offering courses in Arts and Commerce Streams. Though the College is comparatively new, it has ushered in new means and methods of innovative education in the field of Higher Education. The pandemic has put on halt to many plans and programmes but Don Bosco College Golaghat made the adverse situation into a favourable environment for learning by providing quality virtual education.
The College has a Learning Management System which helps students and teachers to teach and share learning materials. Teaching and evaluation, co-curricular activities etc. are being carried out with Big Blue Button – an Integrated Online Platform in the LMS. The digital infrastructure with more than 60 computers with internet access, Tally Certificate Course, Digital Language Lab, Computer Certificate Courses, Digital Class Rooms, make the Institution different from other institutions. Library is well equipped and in the process of digitalization. Students have easy access to library books, internet browsing, courses under SWAYAM and learning materials prepared by various departments.
The other distinguishing features of the College are NCC for boys and Girls, NSS and Clubs such as Rotaract Club, Career Club, Eco Club, Sports Club, Cultural Club, Gender Club, Literary Club, Health and Sanitation Club and many different clubs which help students to enhance their life skills. The College also provides opportunities to master handy skills for living in Electricity, Vermicompost, Farming, Poultry and Fishery.
Students coming from different backgrounds from North East and beyond North East provides opportunities for integration and exchange of culture and tradition. The extra-curricular activities such as Sports and Games, Village Outreach Programmes, Exposure Trips to other States, enable students to enrich their personal lives and build up skills.
The Student Support System accompanies the students in their quest for various possibilities. It helps to tap Government Scholarships as well as non-Governmental Scholarships. The College also provides Monthly Scholarships on merit basis. The students with 100 percentage attendance are rewarded with Tuition Fees. The Student Support Desk helps students to get admission to various centres of Higher Education in and outside the State.
The College is surrounded by greenery of tea gardens and green fields which is very conducive for learning and peace in mind. The Golaghat town, which is logistically well connected for travelling, offers students with easy communication and movements. There are a number of Hostel facilities such as Bolini Home for Boys, Fusco Girls Hostel, Sacred Heart Girls Hostel, Private Hostels and PGs in the neighbourhood; making accommodation easily available to students of distant places.
