Event Overview

Don Bosco College, Golaghat, in collaboration with its Placement & Career Counselling Cell and Media Cell, organized a Career Counselling Programme on “Job Opportunities in India” on 25th April, 2025. The event took place in the conference hall from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM and saw enthusiastic participation from nearly 80 students and staff members.

Resource Person and Guests

The chief resource person for the programme was S.P. Peter Khrasi, IRS (Retd.), MA, MSc., LLB, from New Delhi, India. He is currently the Chairman of NECCOD Housing Society and formerly served as the Chairman of the Manipur State Commission for the Scheduled Tribes (MSCST). Don Bosco College extended a warm welcome to Mr.Khrasi and his colleagues, with Dr. Sr. Sheela Paul honoring the guests with traditional Assamese gamosas.

Programme Highlights Dr. Fr. A. Amaladoss, Principal of Don Bosco College, introduced and welcomed all attendees, and also moderated the interactive sessions.Fr. L. Alaye, SDB, coordinated the event, ensuring smooth proceedings throughout the afternoon.

Key Sessions and Insights

Mr.Khrasi shared his inspiring career journey, detailing his path from a small village to New Delhi, where he served as an IRS Government Officer and Income Tax Officer, and has now become a successful entrepreneur. He emphasized the abundance of job opportunities available in both the public and private sectors, at national and international levels, for those who are determined and hardworking.He provided valuable insights on:Various government and private sector job opportunities; Preparation strategies for competitive exams; Critical thinking and maintain social relationships; Skills development; Willingness to move out of comfort zones; Guidance on accessing coaching centers and mentorship resources; and the importance of perseverance and clarity in achieving career goals.The session was highly interactive, with Mr.Khrasi and other resource persons addressing questions from students and staff, offering clarity on career concepts and pathways. They also committed to supporting students with guidance and exposure programs, especially in North India and Delhi.

Campus Appreciation

Following the programme, the resource person and guests toured the Don Bosco College campus. They expressed appreciation for the excellent learning environment provided for Northeast youth, including the well-maintained hostels and other campus facilities.

Conclusion

The Career Counselling Programme was a resounding success, providing students and staff with practical guidance, inspiration, and resources to pursue their career aspirations. The commitment of the resource persons to offer continued support and exposure opportunities was especially appreciated by all attendees.
