    21st June 2025: The Yoga Celebration at Don Bosco College Golaghat was organized with great enthusiasm and reverence on 21st June 2025 by the Yoga Club in collaboration with the Department of Education and IQAC. The program commenced with a soulful morning prayer that set a calm and serene tone for the day’s events. This invocation of peace marked an auspicious beginning and helped the participants centre themselves for the activities ahead. Following the prayer, the distinguished Chief Guest, Mrs Bani Hazarika Saikia, was warmly felicitated by the Mrigakhi Goswami, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, as a token of appreciation for gracing the occasion. The felicitation was marked by a sense of gratitude and respect, acknowledging the Chief Guest’s valuable contribution to the field of yoga and wellness.

    Thereafter the Principal of the College, Dr. Fr. A. Amaladoss then addressed the gathering with an inspiring speech. The Principal underlined the role of yoga in nurturing a disciplined, stress-free, and healthy lifestyle, especially for students facing academic pressures. The speech emphasized the importance of adopting yoga not just as an activity, but as a way of life that brings long-term benefits. The highlight of the event continued with a theme presentation delivered by Ms. Lymka Bongronpi, a student of Department of Political Science. The presentation focused on this year’s International Yoga Day theme, emphasizing the importance of integrating yoga into daily life to maintain balance and harmony amid modern day challenges. The audience was enlightened on how yoga is not merely a physical exercise but a comprehensive discipline that fosters mental clarity, emotional stability, and spiritual growth.

    The Chief Guest took the stage to share insightful thoughts on the essence of yoga following the speech. Drawing from years of personal experience and professional expertise, the Chief Guest elaborated on yoga’s relevance in contemporary times, especially in maintaining mental well-being amidst growing global stress levels. The Chief Guest’s words resonated deeply with the audience, many of whom expressed renewed motivation to pursue yoga seriously. A speech highlighting the significance of yoga was delivered by Ms. Roselina Minj, a student of Department of Political Science. A practical demonstration of various yoga poses by the Chief Guest followed. The session included demonstrations of fundamental asanas, accompanied by detailed explanations of their benefits on physical posture, flexibility, respiratory function, and mental focus. Participants attentively observed and followed along, experiencing the immediate calming and invigorating effects of the practice. The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Urmika, a student of Department of Commerce. She expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, the Principal, faculty members, participants, and the organizing committee for their contributions towards making the event a grand success. Special appreciation was extended to all those who worked diligently behind the scenes to ensure smooth coordination and execution of the program.     Don Bosco College, Golaghat – Faculty and pupils initiated to celebrate World Environment Day 2025, a day dedicated to raising awareness and taking action for the protection of our planet. This year’s theme, “Beat Plastic Pollution,” calls upon every individual, community, and nation to take decisive steps against the growing threat of plastic waste. Ms. Daisy Gogoi, Asst Professor welcomed the guests, faculty and students, and presented the agenda of the Celebration.

    Dr. Fr. A.Amaladoss, Principal of Don Bosco College, Golagaht addressed the gathering with the message of Go Green and Go Clean to beat Plastic Pollution. Plastic pollution has become one of the most pressing environmental issues of our time. From oceans to forests, cities to villages, plastic waste is choking ecosystems, harming wildlife, and even entering our food and water systems. The time to act is now.

    Department of Education in collaboration with NCC, NSS and IQAC initiated to plant saplings in the college campus to safeguard our environment, reducing plastic use, and promoting eco-friendly habits, we can collectively build a cleaner, greener, and healthier future. Forest Department in Golaghat provided 100 plants to make college campus Green with the slogan ‘Beat Plastic Pollution.’ As part of our celebration today, we have organized meaningful activities such as sapling plantation drives, awareness talks, clean-up campaigns, and each designed to inspire and empower us to make a difference. Dr. Sr. Sheela Paul, Vice Principal, HOD-Education presented the theme Beat Plastic Pollution and encouraged the students to drop plastic and pick a plant.

    Let’s take this opportunity to learn, reflect, and commit ourselves to be part of the solution. Let us rise to the challenge and pledge to Beat Plastic Pollution for the well-being of our planet and generations to come. College organize Clean-Up Campaigns to engage students in cleaning local areas, promoting community involvement and immediate action against plastic waste accumulation. Mr. John Kisku, Asst. Professor of Department of Political Science extended and expressed gratitude to everyone for making this event a successful one.

    Golaghat, June 5, 2025 – Don Bosco College, Golaghat marked World Environment Day 2025 with a series of impactful initiatives under the global theme, “Beat Plastic Pollution.” The event brought together faculty, students, and guests in a collective effort to raise awareness and take action against the mounting threat of plastic waste.

    The celebration commenced with a warm welcome by Ms. Daisy Gogoi, Assistant Professor, who outlined the agenda for the day and emphasized the importance of environmental stewardship. Dr. Fr. A. Amaladoss, Principal of Don Bosco College, delivered an inspiring address, urging the community to “Go Green and Go Clean” as a united front against plastic pollution. He highlighted the urgent need to address plastic waste, which endangers ecosystems, wildlife, and even human health through contamination of food and water sources.

    In a collaborative effort, the Department of Education, in partnership with NCC, NSS, and IQAC, organized a sapling plantation drive on campus. With the generous support of the Golaghat Forest Department, 100 saplings were provided, reinforcing the college’s commitment to creating a greener campus.     Event Overview

    Don Bosco College, Golaghat, in collaboration with its Placement & Career Counselling Cell and Media Cell, organized a Career Counselling Programme on “Job Opportunities in India” on 25th April, 2025. The event took place in the conference hall from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM and saw enthusiastic participation from nearly 80 students and staff members.

    Resource Person and Guests

    The chief resource person for the programme was S.P. Peter Khrasi, IRS (Retd.), MA, MSc., LLB, from New Delhi, India. He is currently the Chairman of NECCOD Housing Society and formerly served as the Chairman of the Manipur State Commission for the Scheduled Tribes (MSCST). Don Bosco College extended a warm welcome to Mr.Khrasi and his colleagues, with Dr. Sr. Sheela Paul honoring the guests with traditional Assamese gamosas.

    Programme Highlights Dr. Fr. A. Amaladoss, Principal of Don Bosco College, introduced and welcomed all attendees, and also moderated the interactive sessions.Fr. L. Alaye, SDB, coordinated the event, ensuring smooth proceedings throughout the afternoon.

    Mr.Khrasi shared his inspiring career journey, detailing his path from a small village to New Delhi, where he served as an IRS Government Officer and Income Tax Officer, and has now become a successful entrepreneur. He emphasized the abundance of job opportunities available in both the public and private sectors, at national and international levels, for those who are determined and hardworking.He provided valuable insights on:Various government and private sector job opportunities; Preparation strategies for competitive exams; Critical thinking and maintain social relationships; Skills development; Willingness to move out of comfort zones; Guidance on accessing coaching centers and mentorship resources; and the importance of perseverance and clarity in achieving career goals.The session was highly interactive, with Mr.Khrasi and other resource persons addressing questions from students and staff, offering clarity on career concepts and pathways. They also committed to supporting students with guidance and exposure programs, especially in North India and Delhi.

    Campus Appreciation

    Following the programme, the resource person and guests toured the Don Bosco College campus. They expressed appreciation for the excellent learning environment provided for Northeast youth, including the well-maintained hostels and other campus facilities.

    On the vibrant morning of April 11, 2025, the campus of Don Bosco College, Golaghat, came alive with colors, music, and the rhythmic beats of the dhol as the institution celebrated the much-anticipated Rongali Bihu with great pomp and traditional fervor. The event was organized to showcase the cultural richness of Assam through traditional music, dance, food, and rituals, while also fostering a sense of unity and understanding of the diverse culture. DonBosco college management, staff, students, well-wishers and invited guests witnessed the entire event . Rev.Fr.Kamil Haro ,promoter Fr. K.A. Thomas and others graced the occasion.

    The college courtyard was transformed into a cultural haven, adorned with xorai, japi, and gamusha, welcoming students, faculty, and guests to a day steeped in Assamese customs and festive cheer.The highlight of the event was a series of mesmerizing Bihu dance performances, which beautifully captured the spirit of spring and celebration. Enthusiastic students, dressed in traditional mekhela sador and kurta.Adding a delightful twist to the festivities, the teachers of Don Bosco College also took the stage, much to the excitement of the students. Their graceful performance not only showcased hidden talents but also strengthened the student-teacher bond in the most heartwarming way. The crowd roared with applause, appreciating the teachers’ spirited participation.

    Ouresteemed teacher, Sir Mukul delivered an insightful and informative speech on Bihu.

    A special attraction of the event was the Husori performance, a traditional group visit-and-bless sequence, singing Bihu songs and offering blessings for prosperity and well-being. The thunderous beats of the dhol during the Husori echoed across the campus, invoking feelings of nostalgia and reverence for Assamese traditions.

    Principal Fr. Amaladoss delivered a short speech appreciating the cultural richness of Assam and emphasized the importance of keeping traditions alive amidst modern times. He applauded the collective effort of the organizing committee and the enthusiastic participation of both students and faculty. As the celebration concluded with laughter, traditional snacks, and heartfelt exchanges of Bihu greetings, one thing was certain—the spirit of Rongali Bihu had woven its magic yet again, bringing the Don Bosco family closer in a tapestry of dance, music, and tradition.Rongali Bihu at Don Bosco College, Golaghat, was not just an event; it was a vibrant festival of togetherness, tradition, and timeless joy.

    The Department of Education and the department of Sociology in collaboration with IQAC, Don Bosco College Golaghat conducted a State level Students Seminar on “Importance of Mental Health Awareness among the Youths in North -East India” on the occasion of World Health Day on 9th April 2025 at DBCG, conference hall. Studies indicate that 23% of school children in India experience mental health problems, with 27.8% of undergraduate students and 31.3% of postgraduate students facing mental health conditions. Therefore, the objectives of conduction of the seminar was to create awareness among college students regarding the importance of Mental health and to find out the high prevalence of emotional and behavioral problems among the youth of North-east India. The seminar started with a welcome speech, keynote speech by  Ms. Arpita Dowerah, HoD, Department of Sociology. Dr. A. Amaladoss, Principal of the College addressed the gathers with his valuable insights on mental health.The seminar  was led with a technical session with students’ paper presentation. Dr. Munirul Hussain, Assistant Professor and HoD, Department of Sociology, Furkating College(Autonomous) chaired as a resource person of the seminar and gave a fruitful delivery on the topics. Total 11 papers were presented by the Students who were from various colleges including DBCG, Golaghat Commerce College were joined for the programme.The entire participants were highly impressed with the presentation. The programme came to an end by the vote of thanks and report presented by the convenor, also distribution of the certificates.

    11.03.2025- A One Day National Workshop on Research Methodology and Proposals was organized by the Research and Publication Cell along with the collaboration of Department of Political Science on 11th of March 2025 at Don Bosco College, Golaghat. The workshop was conducted in Manilo Research Centre of the college. Students, researchers, faculty members of various colleges, universities participated in the national level workshop.

    The day began with spot registrations forthe workshop commencing at 9.00 a.m. Nazia Rahman, Assistant Professor and H.O.D of the Department of English, hosted the workshop, welcoming everyone and introducing the agenda for the day. It was followed by the lighting of the lamp and a welcome address delivered by Dr. Fr. A. Amaladoss, Principal of Don Bosco College, Golaghat. Dr. TapanSaikia, Associate Professor and Research Co-ordinator, Birangana Sati SadhaniRajyikVishwavidyalaya  graced the occasion by his valuable presence and delivered the key note address. A book titled “Empowering the Nation: Enhancing Financial Literacy for a Prosperous Future” was also released during the inaugural session.

    The workshop had three sessions. The resource person for the first session was Dr. Fr. Anto Paul, Principal,North East Instituteof Social Sciences and Research Dimapur, Nagaland.  He delivered a very enlightening speech on the topic “Basics of Social Science Research.” He discussed on various concepts such as characteristics of Social Science Research, the various steps of doing research, variables and its various types etc.

    Professor, Yatindra Singh Sisodia, Director, M.P Institute of Social Science Research, Autonomous Institute of ICSSR, Ministry of Education, New Delhi was the resource person for the second technical session. He presented his valuable insights on the topic “Basic Tenets of Research and Developing Effective Research Proposals. He shared his information on the subject matter such as the characteristics of good research, research qualities and skills and also interacted with the scholars and students encouraging them for writing research proposals. 

    The topic for the third technical session was “How to write review articles? A comprehensive guide.” Dr. PiyaliDutta, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Scienceand  Research Coordinator of Don Bosco College, Golaghat  presented a very informative lecture elaborating on how to write review articles, publish in journals ,and present them into ISBN publications.

    The Valedictory function was marked by the gracious presence of Dr. BulbuliBoruah, Principal, HemoProvaBorbora Girl’s College, Golaghat as the Chief Guest.   She delivered her words and distributed the certificates to the participants for their active participation. The workshop was very informative and enriching.     One-Day SWAYAM Outreach Workshop on Integration and Implementation of SWAYAM Courses in Universities and their Affiliated Colleges was held on March 8, 2025 at P.D. Hall, Gauhati University, Guwahatiand it was organized by Gauhati University in association with SWAYAM and UGC.

    Dr. A. Amaladoss from Don Bosco College, Golaghat participated in the One-Day SWAYAM Outreach Workshop organized by Guwahati University in collaboration with SWAYAM and the University Grants Commission (UGC). The workshop focused on the integration and implementation of SWAYAM courses in universities and their affiliated colleges, emphasizing their role under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

    Workshop Details

    The event commenced at 9:00 AM with registration and high tea, followed by a formal inauguration involving the lighting of the lamp by dignitaries. The Chief Guest for the event was Dr.Amit Kumar Verma from Bureau ABC and NAD, UGC, New Delhi, while Prof. Nani Gopal Mahanta, Vice Chancellor of Gauhati University, was the Guest of Honour.

    Key Highlights

    The workshop was structured into multiple sessions focusing on various aspects of SWAYAM courses: Welcome Address and Remarks delivered by the Vice Chancellor of Gauhati University while remarks by officials from UGC and the Department of State Higher Education. There were many presentations such as Presentation on SWAYAM by Joint Secretary (TEL), Ministry of Education; presentation on SWAYAM for Higher Education Institutions, focusing on credit transfer and examination frameworks and demonstration of the SWAYAM University Dashboard by NPTEL. Lastly Presentation on SWAYAM Plus by IIT-Madras.

    Interactive Sessions:

    Question-and-answer sessions addressing issues related to SWAYAM courses, examination frameworks, credit transfers, and university dashboards. Discussion was held on the Importance of SWAYAM courses under NEP 2020 were highlighted by DS (TEL), Ministry of Education. Concluding Remarks delivered by the SWAYAM Nodal Officer of Guwahati University while vote of thanks presented by the Registrar of Guwahati University.

    Here’s a report on the celebration of International Mother Language Day 2025 at Don Bosco College, Golaghat, Assam.

    On February 21, 2025, Don Bosco College, Golaghat, observed International Mother Language Day organised by the department of Education with great enthusiasm and fervor. The celebration was marked by a special program, where the Chief Guest,ShriGajenGogoi, Welfare Officer, Directorate Sainik Welfare Department, Assam shared his feelings and thoughts on the significance of mother languages.

    The highlight of the program was when the Chief GuestShriGajenGogoi, Dr. Fr. A. Amaladoss, SDB, Principal, Fr. Alayee, Vice Principal along with students and staff, wrote their thoughts and feelings on a flex board in their own mother tongue. The flex board was a symbolic representation of the importance of preserving and promoting mother languages. The writings on the board reflected the participants’ love and respect for their mother languages and the role they play in shaping their identities and cultures.The event was a testament to the college’s commitment to promoting linguistic and cultural diversity.

The total mother languages represented are more than 20 and some of the prominent ones are: Assamese, Tamil, Manipuri, Hindi, Munda, Nagmese, Urang, Bengali, Wancho, Notcte, Karbi and so on.
