     On the 9th of March 2024, International Women’s Day was celebrated at Don Bosco College Golaghat. The theme of the day was “Investing in women: Accelerate progress.” It was organized by NSS Unit in collaboration with Women’s cell, Rotaract club, and the Political Science Department of Don Bosco College Golaghat.

    The program was hosted by Subojit Tirkey of B.A 6th semester. To commence the event, Dr. Sr. Sheela Paul, Vice-Principal and H.O.D of the Department of Education, delivered the inaugural speech, addressing the vital topics of women’s inclusion, rights, and gender equality in society. Following this, a captivating song was presented by students from B.A 6th semester, Political Science Department. Subsequently, Dr. Piyali Dutta conducted a thought-provoking PPT presentation, shedding light on women’s perceptions of their societal exclusion and the underlying influence of childhood nurture in men’s dominance over women. Next, a group dance performed by girls portraying various significant roles of women captivated the audience. This was followed by a small game organized for teachers, succeeded by insightful speeches delivered by them. Finally, the vote of thanks was extended by Gladson Tirkey from B.Com 6th semester, marking the conclusion of the program.

    20th February 2024, Golaghat: Three days mini camp was organized by 74th Assam Girls (I) COY from 15th– 17th February 2024 in Don Bosco College Golaghat Assam. On 15th Feb 2024 OC A Jayanta 74th Assam Girls(I) COY gave the opening address to the student together with the Principal of Don Bosco College Golaghat Fr. Dr Policarb Xalxo. The main purpose of the mini camp was to prepare cadets for the NCC ‘C’ Certificate examination which supposed to be held on 18th Feb 2024. Various classes and other activities had been taken by the JCO’s and PI Staff from both 74th Assam Girls(I) COY and 12th Assam Boys(I) COY such as Drill ,WT,FCBC,MR etc. ANO’s, GCI’s and CTO’s also contributed for the successful completion of the camp. The practical examination for NCC ‘C’ certificate was conducted on the last day of the camp i.e. on 17th Feb 2024 where Brig Ritesh Bahl Gp Cdr Jorhat Group, Col D S Dhami CO 9 Assam Bn NCC, Lt Col A Jayanta OC 74 Assam Girls (I) Coy NCC and Lt Col J S Chauhan 12 Assam (I) Coy NCC inspected the event.

    30.10.23- To foster student’s interest in acquiring knowledge and preparing them for competitive examinations, the 6th Panna Memorial Quiz Competition was conducted at Don Bosco College, Golaghat in 2023.  The venue of the competition was the college assembly hall. The quiz competition was conducted on the questions based on ‘Quiz time 2023 Eight Edition for three days.

    The first and second round of the quiz competition was organized by Ms, Mrigakhi Goswami, Asst. Professor, Department of Political Science, Ms, Daisy Gogoi, Asst. Professor, Department of Education and Ms. Marina Lakra, Asst. Professor of Department of Sociology. The timing of the quiz was from 1.15 p.m- 2.00 p.m. The first round of quiz was conducted on 16th September 2023 through google platform. A total of 34 students participated in the quiz.  26 students got qualified for the second round. The second round of quiz was conducted on 17th of September through written examination.  A total of 16 students got qualified for the third round.

    The third and the grand finale of Panna Memorial Quiz Competition were conducted on 30th October 2023, by Rev. Fr, Bimal Lakra, former Vice- Principal and PRO of Don Bosco College, Golaghat.   The quiz consisted of 16 rounds. The competition began sharply at 1.15 pm, and it ended at 3:20 pm. The winners of the competition were:

    1. Savio Surin – 1st position
    2. Urmilla Tigga-2nd position
    3. Jyotica Lakra – 3rd position
    4. Ashish Induwar -4th position

    The Panna Memorial Quiz Competition ended with the distribution of cash prize

    1st position –Rs. 6000/

    2nd position –Rs.5000/

    3rd position- Rs.4000

    4th position –Rs.3000/

    And those student who were in 5th, 6th ,7th, and  8th position were given consolation prize of Rs.1000/ each.

    Inauguration of Wall Magazine ” PRAJANA”

    Golaghat,13th September,2023: Like every year the education department of Don Bosco College, Golaghat use to prepare their departmental wall magazine.Wall magazine is mainly  a periodical run on a notice board, especially in an educational institute where the students and other members of the institution can post their articles, poems, drawings and other such compositions to share with each other. They can be in the form of collage giving a message. The inauguration ceremony took place on 12th Sept.2023 which took place in the college assembly hall.The wall magazine was inaugurated by the chief guest : Principal of DBC Dr.Fr.Policarp Xalxo ,along with all the Department HODs , the Captain and the Vice Captain of Edu.dept.on 09:00 am .The title of the wall magazine was Prajna and the theme was Artificial Intelligence.All the students from each dept. were  also  invited for the ceremony. Overall the inauguration ceremony was successfully done with the active participation and hard work of the entire education department.

    Alumni Meet-26.08.2023

    On Saturday of August an Alumni meet was organized at Don Bosco College Golaghat under the leadership of Miss Marina Lakra, in-charge of Alumni. The program began at 10 am in the assembly hall with a prayer by Rector Fr. Joseph Kindo followed by the lighting of lamp. The chief guest of this event was former Principal Fr. Dr. Jose Palely, currently serving at Don Bosco University as the Vice Chancellor. Apart from the alumni meet this program was also an honouring event for our chief guest. He was welcomed by a Fhulam Gamusa, Japi and a Momentum. Fr. Dr. Jose Palely enlightened the audience through his speech and a ppt showing the campus of Don Bosco University. The speech was followed by a few dance performances and songs. The alumnus who has secured a good position in the university was honoured and they delivered short speeches. The formal event ended at 12 noon after which the alumni met the HoDs of each department to discuss on how we could remain in contact with the alumnus and to conduct different kinds of program in future.

    The event was inaugurated by the chief guest Dr. Fr. Amala Doss, Vice Prinicipal and Research Director, Don Bosco College, Golaghat and he was felicitated by  AbhinavTodi, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce.

    Football Match Boys:The first match was held between English Dept. and Political Science Dept. which was conquered by the English Dept. with a score of 2-1. The Second match was held between Education and Sociology dept. which education dept. conquered the match through a penalty shoot-out.The third match i.e. semi-final was played between commerce dept. and English dept. which was conquered by the English dept. with a score of 0-2.The Final Match was played between English Dept. and Education Dept. which was conquered by the department of English through a penalty shoot-out.

    Kho-Kho Girls:Same procedure was followed in which the first match was played between English Dept. and Political Science Dept. and the Political science Dept. Swept over English Dept.The second match was played between education dept. and sociology dept. which the sociology dept. triumphed over education dept. The third match i.e. semi-final was played between commerce dept. and Political Science dept. which was conquered by the Political Science dept.The Final Match was played between Political Science Dept. and Sociology Dept. which was conquered by the department of Sociology.
