    Annual College Week – 2023 : The inauguration of the College week 2023 began on 23rd of January. Sri Mrinal Saikia, Member of Assam Legislative Assembly, Khumtai Constituency was invited as the chief guest. He addressed the students with positive remark and to continue with the diversity seen in the institution. The Principal, Dr. Policarp Xalxo, IQAC Coordinator, Dr Sheela Paul, MLA, Sri Mrinal Saikia together paid floral tribute to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his birth anniversary. Together they hoisted the college flag followed by house parade. The five departments of the college was equally divided among four houses; Blue, Green, Red, and Yellow. Teachers were also allotted to these houses. Sir Shiv Kumar Sharma organised the whole college week with Miss Heena Saikia as assistant. New events were included for the first time in this year college week such as Mehndi competitition, Non-fire food competition, Chess, Calligraphy, Handicraft exhibition and Mr &Miss DBC along with prevailing competition such as; Football, Volleyball, Shot-put, Javelin, Table-Tennis, etc. The college week ended on 28th of January with a cultural programme and with the distribution of Certificates and Prizes by Principal and other faculty members. The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sr. Sheela Paul.

    DEO exam held in Don Bosco College, Golaghat

    18-12-2022 : Office of the Superintendent of Police, Golaghat conducted a written  examination for Data Entry Operator (DEOs) for CCTNS & ICJS Projects on 18th December, 2022 from 11am to 12pm at Don Bosco College, Golaghat. The exam was conducted according to the guidelines set by the office of the Superintendent of Police(SP). On 17th December, Fr. Dr. Policarp Xalxo, Principal of the College along with Miss Pratyasi Barua, Assistant Professor of the dept. of Sociology went for the orientation programme organized by the SP office by IPS officer Ramandeep Kaur, SP Golaghat. She briefed about the exam and necessary guidelines to be followed. The Principal of the college was the center in-charge of the exam conducted.

    All the guidelines were strictly followed in preparing the seating arrangement and verification of the identity of the candidates. All the teaching and non-teaching staff of the college were present for the invigilation duty. Of the 350 listed candidates, 299 appeared in the written examination which was of 60 marks. The exam was supervised by Mr. Juganto Jugadhora from Judicial Department. The exam ended smoothly and everything happened as planned.

    Development Outreach Programme organized by the Department of Political Science,
    Don Bosco College, at Sacred Heart High School Golaghat

    01.11.2022- On 1st November 2022, the Department of Political Science Don Bosco College, Golaghat organized a Development Outreach Programme on the observance of Post 77th UN Foundation Year at Sacred Heart School, Golaghat. The theme of the programme was ‘Nourishing Peace’. The very purpose of the programme was to make aware the students about UN and its role in nourishing peace. The students of B.A 5th semester took the initiative and participated  in a variety of activities in the programme. The programme was conducted at Sacred Heart High School, Golaghat. It was attended by the students of Class IX. The programme started sharply at 1.00 p.m. The students presented introduction on United Nations-its origin and development, presented UN’S role in maintaining peace, and in the field of promotion and protection of human rights. Moreover, songs and dances of peace and unity were also performed by the students to mark the day.  The vote of thanks was delivered by Sir. Arpan Mandal, Assistant Professor, of the Department. The programme ended by 2.15 p.m.

    Assam Finance Minister Smt Ajanta Neog inaugurates Academic Arts Building of Don Bosco College, Golaghat.

    12 Nov.,2022 ,DON BOSCO COLLEGE, GOLAGHAT: Finance, Women and Child Development Minister, Smt. Ajanta Neog inaugurated the 1st and 2nd floor of Academic Arts Building, Computer Lab and Solar Panel Power Plant on 12 November 2022. The program was organized by the Don Bosco College management and Student’s Forum under the leadership of Rev. Fr. A. Amaladoss, SDB, Vice Principal of Don Bosco College, Golaghat.  Chairperson of Golaghat Municipality, Mrs. Dulumoni Borbora attended the inauguration ceremony among many well-wishers, fathers, sisters, friends and special invitees. Representatives of two school students also witnessed the historical event. The event started at 10.30 am with the cutting of ribbon by Smt. Ajanta Neog followed by chief guest speech and cultural program.

    While addressing the audience Ajanta Neog said, “When I entered into this institution then the environment of love, peace, devotion, and dedication could be seen and experienced. You are very lucky and I am honored to inaugurate the college building which is very pre-planned. This kind of environment is essential for the purpose of education. Education is the foundation of the society which needs to be strong. I congratulate all of you that Don Bosco College Golaghat is an institution which is playing a very vital role for the promotion of our society along with the path of education and upliftment.” 

    She congratulated the institution for achieving B+ in the first cycle of NAAC assessment Grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bengaluru. She said that Don Bosco is not only a prestigious brand but also a revolution in itself; the revolution of knowledge initiated by Saint John Bosco for youth empowerment and for providing quality education to economically weaker section. She added that the students of this institution are truly blessed and they should take pride while studying in an International Institution. She wished for the best and said that she would like to help the institution financially for its growth and to fulfill all the criteria that are lagging behind.

    Dr. Fr. Policarp Xalxo, Principal of Don Bosco College, Golaghat addressed the audience as well as the dignitaries that attended the inauguration ceremony. He talked about the history of the institution and how the institution has been growing up year after year. The cultural diversity of the college was seen and experienced by all present for the gathering in colourful dresses of students in their Assamese, Karbi, Adivasi, Wancho and other traditional dresses performing their folk dances. Her amiable presence was appreciated by everyone present at the event and it will surely benefit the institution in future.

    Performed a Skit at Sri Satya Sai Vidya Vihar School, Golaghat

    15th Oct,2022: A group of sixteen students from the Department of Sociology along with Assistant Professors Miss Pratyasi Barua and Miss Arpita Dowerah and  IQAC coordinator Dr. Sr. Sheela Paul visited Sri Satya Sai Vidya Vihar School, Golaghat to perform a skit on the occasion of ‘World Mental Health Week’. The skit was organized with an aim to create awareness on social media usage and its effect on mental health under the theme ‘Social Media and Mental Health’.

    There is a connection between increased social media use and deteriorated mental health. Unfortunately, the youth are the most active social media users, have a predominately high risk of developing mental health issues. Through the skit, the students tried to show the relationship between social media use and its effects on mental health. In the end the skit also tried to bring home the message that social media usage should be limited.

     Mr. Subhasis Rajkhowa, the Principal of the school played a very pro-active role in organizing the skit. All the students and teachers of the school appreciated the performance of the students and requested the college to conduct exchange programs in the future.

    A Visit to Kendriya Vidyalaya Golaghat by the Students of Sociology Department

    Oct 29,2022: As part of ‘MANODARPAN’ activities the students of Sociology department, Don Bosco College Golaghat were invited by Kendriya Vidyalaya, Golaghat to perform a skit keeping in line with the objective of promoting mental health  wellbeing among the students.

     A total number of twelve students from the department of Sociology visited Kendriya Vidyalaya Golaghat to perform the skit accompanied by Sr. Sheela Paul, the IQAC Coordinator and Ms. Marina Lakra Asst. Professor of Sociology department.
