    Golaghat, June 5, 2025 – Don Bosco College, Golaghat marked World Environment Day 2025 with a series of impactful initiatives under the global theme, “Beat Plastic Pollution.” The event brought together faculty, students, and guests in a collective effort to raise awareness and take action against the mounting threat of plastic waste.

    The celebration commenced with a warm welcome by Ms. Daisy Gogoi, Assistant Professor, who outlined the agenda for the day and emphasized the importance of environmental stewardship. Dr. Fr. A. Amaladoss, Principal of Don Bosco College, delivered an inspiring address, urging the community to “Go Green and Go Clean” as a united front against plastic pollution. He highlighted the urgent need to address plastic waste, which endangers ecosystems, wildlife, and even human health through contamination of food and water sources.

    In a collaborative effort, the Department of Education, in partnership with NCC, NSS, and IQAC, organized a sapling plantation drive on campus. With the generous support of the Golaghat Forest Department, 100 saplings were provided, reinforcing the college’s commitment to creating a greener campus. The slogan “Beat Plastic Pollution” guided the day’s activities, which included sapling plantation, awareness talks, and clean-up campaigns, all designed to inspire and empower participants to become agents of change.

    Dr. Sr. Sheela Paul, Vice Principal and Head of the Department of Education, elaborated on the theme, encouraging students to “Drop the Plastic and Pick a Plant.” She emphasized the importance of adopting sustainable and eco-friendly habits to secure a healthier future for all.

    To further promote environmental responsibility, the college organized clean-up campaigns, engaging students in hands-on efforts to clean local areas and foster community involvement. These initiatives not only address immediate plastic waste accumulation but also nurture a culture of environmental consciousness.

    Mr. John Kisku, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, concluded the event by expressing heartfelt gratitude to all participants and stakeholders for their enthusiasm and commitment, which contributed to the success of the celebration.

    Don Bosco College continues to encourage students and staff to minimize plastic usage in daily life and adopt sustainable practices. By integrating environmental activities into its academic and extracurricular programs, the college aims to play a pivotal role in combating plastic pollution and building a cleaner, greener, and healthier future for generations to come.

    Rank Distribution Ceremony of  NCC cadets

    In a solemn ceremony that reverberated with pride and a sense of responsibility , the Don Bosco College Golaghat NCC conducted a piping ceremony to confer rank to its cadets on 22ND June 2024 .

    Lt. Col . A JAYANTA , Commanding officer of 74 Assam Girls  (I) Coy , Hawaldar Manoranjan Sinha , 74 Assam Girls (I)  Coy , Hawaldar J. R Bhonsle 12 Assam Boys (I) Coy NCC, were the invited guest to grace the ceremony.

    Fr. Dr A. Amaladoss , principal welcomed the gathering conveying his gratitude  to the cadets for their dedication and commitment to the NCC . He also acknowledged the continuous support of both 12 Assam Boys (I) Coy and 74 Assam Girls (I) Coy Golaghat unit in transforming  cadets by molding them to be future leaders .

      The dignitaries along with Principal , Vice Principal , CTO’s  administered the honorary ranks to 20 boys and girls cadets . Anikel Tirkey was conferred rank of Senior Under Officer , Andhrias Surin and Nishita Rani Boro as Under Officer and John Jose kerketta and Berthila Induwar as Sergeant.  The other cadets were awarded rank of Corporal and Lance Corporal. In his congratulatory message Lt. Col. A Jayanta inspired the cadets to reach their goals and fulfill their dreams . He also stressed that along with receiving rank their responsibility

    has increased .  He urged the cadets to dream big , carry organizational values beyond campus making an impact on the communities they would be part of .

    The ceremony concluded with vote of thanks proposed by NCC cadet Rushma Toppo which was followed by NCC song.
