Report on “ International Literacy Day-2024”

Education opens the windows of the mind. Every year, International Literacy Day is celebrated on September 8 to advance the literacy agenda towards a more literate and sustainable society. To spread the message about the importance of literacy among the learners, this year International Literacy Day (ILD) 2024 was celebrated under the theme “Promoting Multilingual Education: Literacy for Mutual Understanding & Peace” . This day heralded an opportunity to rethink the fundamental importance of literacy learning spaces to build resilience and ensure quality, equitable, and inclusive education for all. To ensure inclusive growth, the Department of Education, Don Bosco college, Golaghat organized Inter College Essay Competition on “Promoting Multilingual Education: Literacy for Mutual Understanding & Peace” to enrich and transform the existing learning spaces through an integrated approach and enable literacy learning in the perspective of lifelong learning and inclusive growth.The department organized prize distribution ceremony and inauguration of wall magazine” PRAJANA” at 1.30 pm at college assembly hall. The program started with a lecture on “Literacy for Inclusive Growth” by Ms. Daisy Gogoi, Asst. Professor. The principal of the college, Dr. A. Amoladoss inaugurated the wall magazine and addressed the audience as chief guest of the program. The department has selected the wall magazine theme for the session as “Literacy”. The program concluded with the prize distribution ceremony of the Inter College Essay Competition. Mushkan Begum(Furkating College), Ujjal Protim Bora(D.R.College), Florina Bagh and Gaithongum Alex Kamei(Don Bosco College, Golaghat) secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd(combined) respectively. The program successfully concluded with a vote of thanks.
