    On February 21, 2025, Don Bosco College, Golaghat, organized an initiative drive for the Rashtriya Kritigyata Evam Jagrookta Yojana. The program aimed to educate young students about India’s rich culture and instill a sense of gratitude towards armed forces personnel. Dr. Father A Amaladoss, Principal of Don Bosco College, along with Lt Col Ak Jayanta (Officer Commanding), representatives from Ex-Servicemen, NCC staff, college staff, cadets, and students from eleven colleges across Golaghat, attended the event. A total of 250 cadets, trainers, and resource persons participated. Dr. Amaladoss, as the chief guest, spoke on leadership and the importance of focus in life with clear goals. Other speakers emphasized unity, discipline, and the role of NCC cadets in nation-building.

    Don Bosco College, Golaghat, has been a hub of activity, hosting several significant events aimed at enhancing NCC training and promoting national awareness among students. These initiatives included NCC certificate exams, training camps, and awareness programs, all contributing to the development of leadership qualities and a sense of national pride among the youth. During the last 11 days College hosted three programs such as NCC Mini Camp – 1 (12th to 16th, Feb. 2025) “C” Certificate Examination, Rashtriya Kritigyata Evam JagrooktaYojana and NCC Mini Camp – 2 (19th to 23rd, Feb. 2025) and “B” Certificate Examination. The campus accommodated more than 600 young people from different colleges, officers, trainers and well-wishers. Don Bosco College in collaboration with the 74 Assam Girls (I) Coy, Golaghat unit and 12 Assam Bn NCC, Golaghat organized the events successfully with Lt Col AkJayanta and Col. Hiren Borah, VSM Col Commanding Officers.

Other speakers Mrs. Melody, GCI, Sub DhruvalochenNath, HavGajenGogoi, and Jitu Bora emphasized unity, discipline, and the role of NCC cadets in nation-building respectively.

    NCC Mini Camps for both “B” &”C” Certificate Examinations

    The 74 Assam Girls (I) Coy, Golaghat unit, in collaboration with Don Bosco College, trained 260 cadets, PI staff, ANO/CTOs, and GCIs with Col. Jayanta (Commanding Officer) present during the training. Mini Camp 2 was held at Don Bosco College from February 19th to 23rd, 2025, under the leadership of Lt. Col. Jayanta and Dr. Fr. A. Amaladoss. The NCC “B” Certificate exam, an essential part of the training for Senior Division/Wing cadets, includes written and practical examination, with a total allocation of 500 marks. Cadets must meet specific attendance and training criteria to be eligible. The “B” Certificate exam was held on February 23rd, 2025, at Don Bosco College, Golaghat.

    Prior to this, Don Bosco College, in collaboration with 12 Assam Bn NCC, Golaghat, organized a Mini Camp 1 to prepare cadets for the “C” Certificate examination. The camp, held from February 12th to 16th, 2025, was headed by Col. Hiren Borah, VSM Col Commanding Officer, and Dr. Fr. A. Amaladoss. The NCC “C” Certificate written exam was conducted on February 16, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. A total of 203 Senior Division (SD) and Senior Wing (SW) cadets participated. The exam assessed cadets’ understanding of NCC principles, military history, national integration, and practical skills. Successful completion of the examination marks a significant achievement for the cadets, contributing to their personal growth and potential future service to the nation.

    Eleven colleges actively participated in both camps, including D R College, Commerce College, Don Bosco College, DKD College, Sarupatar College, Golaghat Engineering College, JDSG College, Furkating College, Kamarbandha College, HPB College, and JoyaGogoi College.These events underscore Don Bosco College’s commitment to fostering leadership qualities, national awareness, and cultural appreciation among its students and the broader community. The college’s collaboration with NCC units and other organizations demonstrates its dedication to holistic education and nation-building.

     Don Bosco College, Golaghat, successfully hosted an Alumni Meet on 13th February 2025 held at College Conference Hall for Electrical Trade candidates, reaffirming its commitment to skill development and career advancement. The event was graced by Mr.HariKonidala, CSR Program Coordinator at Schneider Electric India; Dr.Fr. Amaladoss, Centre In-charge of DB Tech, and Principal of Don Bosco College; Mr.KishorDass, Regional Manager; along with state and center teams, and 40 alumni.

    Fr. Amaladoss, in his welcome speech, expressed gratitude for Schneider Electric India’s support in establishing a state-of-the-art lab, enhancing the college’s training capabilities. He emphasized Don Bosco College’s mission to equip students with industry-relevant skills for sustainable livelihoods.

    Mr.KishorDass highlighted the Schneider Electric Program’s impact across DB Tech centers, urging trainees to prioritize skill mastery over monetary gains.

    Mr.HariKonidala introduced Schneider Electric’s global initiatives and the Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP). He shared inspiring success stories and encouraged alumni to set up their enterprises, assuring them of continued support. He also introduced a 21-days residential training program in Bengaluru, designed to help candidates establish clean energy micro-enterprises.

    The event showcased Don Bosco College, Golaghat’s dedication to holistic education, industry partnerships, and entrepreneurship development. By fostering such collaborations, the institution continues to empower youth, preparing them for professional success and self-reliance.

    Faculty Empowered with AI and Well-Being Insights for Higher Education

    To equip faculty members, research scholars, and students with the latest knowledge and skills in artificial intelligence and student well-being, Don Bosco College Golaghat, Assam, organized a five-day international Faculty Development Programme (FDP) from November 25 to 29, AI and Well-being in Higher Education: Balancing Technology and Mental Health. The IQAC, in collaboration with the college’s research cell, organized the FDP.

    The engaging and informative programme equipped the participants with strategies to integrate technology effectively in higher education while addressing mental health concerns. The interactive sessions provided valuable takeaways for fostering a balanced and student-centered learning environment:

    • Harnessing the Power of AI: Participants gained insights into AI’s potential to enhance teaching and learning processes. Experts discussed innovative ways to integrate AI tools into classrooms, fostering personalized and effective education.
    • Prioritizing Student Well-being: The programme addressed students’ mental health concerns in the digital age. The experts shared strategies for identifying signs of distress, providing timely support, and creating a conducive learning environment.
    • Fostering Student-Centred Learning: Faculty members were inspired to adopt student-centered approaches that empower learners. The programme highlighted the significance of active learning, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
    • Leadership and Collaboration: The sessions explored leadership roles in higher education, emphasizing the importance of effective communication, teamwork, and collaboration between faculty, students, and administrators.

    Dr. J. Antony William, Professor at the School of Arts, Design, and Architecture, Aalto University, Finland; Dr. Y. Dominic Ravichandran, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Academics at DMI-St. Eugene University, Lusaka, Zambia; Dr. Raja, a distinguished academic from GCU University, USA; and Father Xavier M, SDB, Rector and Secretary of Don Bosco College, Kohima, Nagaland, delivered their expertise during the FDP. Principal Dr. Father Amaladoss, SDB, introduced the FDP during the inaugural session.

    Report on observation of National Constitution Day  at Don Bosco College Golaghat

    26th November 2024: Faculty members and students of a college in Upper Assam marked 75th anniversary of the adoption of Indian Constitution with seminar, pledge taking and medley of patriotic songs on 26th November 2024.

    Faculty members and students of Don Bosco College Golaghat, the second oldest Salesian Educational Centre in Assam started in 1941 celebrated the constitution in the presence of Coordinator of Salesian Higher Education and Vice Chancellor of Don Bosco University Guwahati.

    “The event was a significant occasion aimed at fostering awareness and appreciation of constitutional values among students and faculty members,” says Principal of the college, Dr. Fr. A. Amaladoss.

    The principal called on both students and faculty members, “to embrace their fundamental duties as citizens and to unite as brothers and sisters in upholding the values enshrined in the Constitution.”

    The college established in 2015 is situated in the tea and tribal area of Golaghat district famous for the world heritage Kaziranga National Park and Wild Life Sanctuary.

    Some 250 students and faculty members participated in the event.

    The program hosted by Political Science Department began with an introductory speech by Tingdan Wangsu, a B.A. 3rd semester student who provided an insightful overview of the evolution of the Indian Constitution, setting the tone for the day’s discussions.

    Dr. Amaladoss administered a pledge on the Preamble of the Constitution for faculty members and students, reinforcing their commitment to constitutional principles. 

    B.A.1st Semester student John Paul Kandulna from the Department of Political Science led the oath taking to uphold the fundamental rights and duties of citizens.

    The keynote speaker at the event was Salesian Father Prof. George Thadathil, General Coordinator of IUS (Don Bosco Higher Education, Rome), who emphasized the importance of constitutional values and shared inspiring anecdotes from the life of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, who played a pivotal role in drafting the Constitution.

    Vice-Chancellor of Assam Don Bosco University and former principal of Don Bosco College Golaghat Dr. Fr. Jose Palely encouraged students to imbibe constitutional values and fulfill their duties as responsible citizens in building a prosperous India.

    To add a patriotic flair to the celebration, students from B.A. 3rd Semester performed a stirring patriotic songs led by Wangli Lowang and his team. Additionally, a vibrant dance performance by Ansila Dung Dung and her team captivated the audience, showcasing their artistic talents while celebrating national pride. The program ended on a high note with everyone singing the National Anthem
